Rhodes - the island of the colossus

The other reason is that for one so warm and shiny climat as the local, the closenes of the sea atract the people since ancient times.

It is assumed that its high reaches 40 meters. It has been destroyed in an earthquake and its debris has been gradually with drown because the material they have made. But even today, when this statue exists only in legends and paintings left by the ancient people it continues to attract the crowds of foreigners wishing to learn more about this monument. Because of the reason that Rhodes is an island, the visitors arive here by air or sea. During the active tourist season there are many charter flights, because of the huge number of visitors. The airport Diagoras, that recieve the groups of tourists is located in the northern part of the island, in about 13km from the center of the capital Rhodes.

Rhodes view to the Mediterranean SeaClimate. The climate of Rhodes is subtropical Mediterranean. This is one of the  warmest and sunniest places in the European continent. The average daily temperature in January, which is the coldest month in the year, is 15°C. This is a nice weather for outdoor activities, biking, picnics and long walks among the nature. Moreover, the vegetation of Rhodes is evergreen, and even in the winter is a fresher. The minimum winter temperatures rarely fall below 10°C. The summers are long and hot. The hottest month is August, when the daily temperatures are constantly more than 30°C. The water of the Mediterranean Sea is clean and limpidOverall, the rainfall is scarce all year around, but this fact does not apply to the winter months. In January and February the precipitations are more than 100mm (150mm in January). Usually in July and August there is no any rain. From early April to late October the perfect beach weather is garanteed. Wonderfull days for suimming and sun bathing there is even in November, though the weather is not so hot. At the end of November the weather starts cooling and the precipitations increase. Of course, daily temperature of 20°C at the end of November can not disappoint almost anyone, provided that in many countries of Europe in this part of the year there is snowfalls.
