The most preserved forest in Europe is situated on the territory of Spain, but in fact this forest is not located on the European continent! You can find it on the second smallest island of the archipelago of Canaries – La Gomera. This is the only island in this archipelago that has not volcanic origin in contrast to the other islands. As a whole, La Gomera is sparsely populated. It is home to only 22 000 people, but in return of it, the island has visited from millions of tourists. They are connected by regular ferryboat line, between Los Christianos in Tenerife and San Sebastian de La Gomera. The reason for the millions of visitors every year is the most preserved forest in the European Union. This is an incredible natural wealth. The dense, evergreen forest is located on the territory of Garahonay National Park. It occupies an area of 42sq.km. in the central parts of the island.
