Does it snow in Cyprus? The answer is yes, but only in the mountainous regions of the island. At high-lying areas winter is cold and fluffy snow can persists for about four months from December to March. For this reason Troodos Mountains are a good place for skiing in winter.
Snow practically never falls in low-lying coastal areas of Cyprus even during the coldest years. For example, temperatures of below 7 degrees Celsius are rare even during the most sever winter nights.
The Mediterranean Sea is powerful generator of heat in coastal Cyprus. In January and February water surface temperatures remain about 17°C.
