Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It is situated in the southern – most part of the continent North America. This area is more famous as Central America. It borders on the north by Nicaragua and on the south by Panama. The territory of Costa Rica is 51 100 sq.km. Its occupation is the reason to be one of the most perspective tourist destinations in the world. The country is situated in the subequatorial climate zone. Because of its climate, the conditions are suitable for tourism all year around.
On the north-east the country borders by Caribbean sea and on the south-west by Pacific ocean. The closeness to the American market makes the country still more attractive to the American visitors.
Costa Rica has subequatorial climate with high temperatures all year around. The climate in the country is considered to be one of the best in the world. The capital San Jose has daily temperatures between 24 and 26 °C all years round.
The night temperatures are between 14 and 16 °C. Because of this fact the conditions are easy bearable. From December to April the precipitations are insignificant. The rainy season is from May to November.
The city of Limon that is situated on the east coast has average daily temperatures between 29 and 31 °C. The night temperatures are around 20 °C.
The precipitations are significant all year around. The climate is similar to the equatorial, but only on the ocean coast. In the interior the precipitations are seasonal. There are dry and wet season.
The climate in Puntarenas is also subequatorial. There are two seasons – dry and wet. From December to April is the dry season. It has insignificant precipitations. The wet season is from May to November.
The rainfalls are sudden and intensive, but short term. The temperatures are around 30 °C all year around. The ocean breeze, make the conditions very nice and bearable.
The warm and wet climate is the reason for the lush equatorial vegetation in the country. The rainforests are home to many animal and plant species.
There some very interesting species as the small colourful frogs that possess deadly venom. They live on the trees and bushes and are not so closely connected by the water basins.
Their venom is so dangerous that the local Indians have spread the venom on their pikes when they go hunting. The venom can bring down even big game.
Costa Rica is one of the countries in the world where the people are happiest. The local residences have a good standard of living, rely to quality health care and live in high personal security.
In contrast to the most Latin American countries, which have high level of crime, here you could move without fear on the streets, similar to the cities in Europe.
Costa Rica has no army. It is world famous as the Latin American Switzerland. The atmosphere of Costa Rica is really European. The capital of the country – San Jose – is typical European city. The country (especially San Jose) is regional educational center of big importance.

The highest peak is 3819m and its name is Grande Chirripo. The biggest part of the peaks in the mountains of Costa Rica, are volcanoes.
In many places of the country you can find hotels which main attraction is watching from the window of the hotel room the streaming down lava on the volcano’s slopes.
In the southern part of the country are predominate preserved territories. Costa Rica has realized that the local nature is incredible treasure.
The conservation of the local rainforests could rescue thousands plant and animal species. Many of the species can not be found anywhere else. The local biological diversity is among the greatest in the world.
